Critically-acclaimed actor, Neeraj Vora, has been battling for life after he suffered a heart attack followed by a brain stroke in October 2016.
The actor had come to Delhi for a business trip. On October 19, he was admitted to AIIMS. His childhood friend, producer Firoz Nadiadwala, immediately flew down to see him. But by the time he reached, Neeraj had slipped into the coma.
Now, the actor is currently residing at Firoz Nadiadwala’s Juhu home which has been converted into a fully-functional Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Firoz says,
At 5pm on March 11, we airlifted Neeraj bhai and dashed to Mumbai in a medical helicopter. Within an hour he was comfortably resting at his new home in Barkat Villa.
Neeraj has no family. His father passed away in 2005, and a year later, his wife passed away. He has no children. His only family was his mother, Premila Ben, who too passed away three years back.
The acclaimed actor had directed ‘Phir Hera Pheri’ and ‘Khiladi 420’. He also wrote the screenplay of ‘Hera Pheri’, ‘Daud’ and ‘Golmaal’.
The good news is that the actor’s condition has slightly improved. Firoz Nadiadwala says,
I’ve known him for 18 years and he even ate his meals and watched movies in a group. He enjoys the company of friends. Over the last five months, his condition has improved slightly, he can blink to communicate and is in a semi-conscious state. He’s been responding to audio therapy, particularly when we play his father’s (Pandit Vinayak Rai Nanalal Vora) music. He has yet to recover his speech but there are no infections or bed sores and the doctors have assured us that his life is out of danger.
We wish him a speedy recovery.
