In a moving post that actor Abhishek Bachchan posted on social media platform Instagram, he shared a throwback picture of when his father, the legendary Amitabh Bachchan, was in the hospital after being injured on the sets of the movie “Coolie”.
In the post, Abhishek walks down memory lane to 1985 and talks about visiting his father in the hospital after he was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis.
The picture shows the Bachchan kids surrounding Amitabh as he lay on the hospital bed and cutely snuggle up to him.
#throwbackthursday taken in the mid 80’s ( 1985 if memory serves). I call it Big B and the Bachchan bunch. Dad was hospitalised with Mysthenia Gravis and my sister, cousins and I had gone to visit him. Being too young to understand what all was going on our parents always made it out to be like an outing so that we would not be disturbed by the hospital and its workings. When I used to visit my father after his accident on the sets of “Coolie” in 1982, seeing him connected to many drips and machines, he used to tell me they were kites that he had got for me. I was 6 yrs old. My father was fighting for his life and all I thought about was… why isn’t he allowing me to play with these kites??? The innocence of childhood I guess.
While the kids all seem to be happy in the picture, Abhishek’s captions capture’s the true essence of parenthood and shows how Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan used to tell 6-year-old Abhishek that the IV drips and tubes connected to Sr. Bachchan were kites that they got for him so as not to worry him about his father.
