Bollywood playback singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya is famous for his spicy takes on controversial issues. And yet again he has said something of that sort. This time Abhijeet’s comment on Shah Rukh Khan has started doing the rounds. He is known for singing chartbuster songs for the superstar. His voice was almost synonymous with SRK with songs like Main Koi Aisa Geet Gaun and Tumhe Jo Maine Dekha until he stopped lending his voice to the actor.
At the India Today Safaigiri Summit and Awards 2018, Abhijeet opened up and said that it was him who made Shah Rukh a superstar!
This is what the singer claimed:
“I made superstars with my voice. Till the time I sang for Shah Rukh Khan, he was a rock star. When I stopped singing for him – he came down to Lungi Dance.”
Abhijeet also said that he considers himself as a part of the Indian ‘music industry’ and not Bollywood.
“It was a very small reason I stopped singing for Shah Rukh. In Main Hoon Na, they showed everyone from a spot boy to everyone else, but the singers. The same thing happened with Om Shanti Om. Stars sang Dhoom Tana. It was my voice. But it wasn’t shown anywhere. The self-respect was hurt. Why should I ask them to add my name? The problem is I don’t lack anything. So why should I ask for this?”
It is not the first time when Abhijeet invited controversies. In his previous comments, he has lashed out at the ‘Khans of Bollywood’, Shah Rukh, Salman and Aamir by calling them ‘shameless’ for breeding Pakistani actors. He also went on a Twitter rant against filmmakers Karan Johar and Mahesh Bhatt for supporting the Pakistani actors.
Earlier too, Abhijeet had made the similar claims, to which SRK replied:
