Delhi Police on Tuesday arrested state Law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar in an alleged fake degree case. He will be taken to court soon, reports NDTV.
About 30-40 policemen took Mr Tomar away this morning when he was addressing people in his constituency and then drove him to the Hauz Khas police station. They later shifted him to the Vasant Vihar police station.
An FIR was registered against him last night. He has been charged under various IPC sections including 420 (cheating). He faces allegations that his undergraduate certificate from the Bhagalpur University in Bihar was “fake and forged”. However, Mr Tomar had earlier dismissed the charges against him as baseless.
The AAP government in Delhi has slammed the BJP-led central government alleging a political conspiracy to stymie the Delhi government. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said that there is an emergency-like situation in Delhi.
