The year 2016 witnessed a lull by the Hindi film industry, and Christmas bonanza Dangal proved to be the tide changer in the economy of the industry.
Aamir Khan’s Dangal has not only touched the hearts of the audience, but has also proved to be a boon for the entertainment industry.
The actor has received letters from single screen theatre owners on how his film, Dangal, has saved them from being out of business.
In the letters, the writers expressed how the year 2015 and 2016 witnessed a major low in the film business making it difficult for them to survive in the industry. They also thank the actor as they felt they got a lease of life with the tremendous response to Dangal.
The actor was touched by reading the emotional letters written to him.
The emotional Aamir Khan says, “It has been a very exciting and fulfilling journey. When I look back at my career, all my decisions — on the face of it — have mostly been impractical and risky, with the latest instance being Dangal (2016). Also, I have been able to do the kind of work that I believe in. Not all of us are lucky enough to be in the position where you can choose to do what you want. I feel very grateful to be in that position. I am able to do the work that I love.”
