Telegu film director RS Rajamouli had recently created history when his film Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion, crossed the Rs. 1000 crore mark in worldwide ticket sales and became first Indian movie to achieve this feat.
But even as fans across the world celebrated this feat, yet another Indian movie has crossed this mark and made India even more proud.
This new entry to the Rs 1000cr list is none other than Amir Khan’s Dangal which was recently released in China and got a standing ovation from its audience at the end of its premier show.
While Baahubali 2 has already crossed Rs. 800 cr. mark at the domestic box office and is still going strong, Dangal, which was released in December 2016, at the domestic level is almost out of all the theaters and until the last update had earned approximately Rs. 511 crores within the Indian box office.
On the international front, Baahubali 2, has added just over Rs. 200 cr. in the overseas markets till now, whereas Dangal in past few months crossed USD 30.02 million [Rs. 205 cr] in the overseas markets and about Rs. 11 cr. at the Taiwan box office within the past month.
While that takes Dangal’s total collection to approx. Rs. 726 cr., it seems its recent release in the Chinese market has given Dangal such a boost that it has now crossed the Rs. 1000 cr. mark.
On its 9th day of China release, the film has China box office collection of approx. Rs. 300 crores which now takes its cumulative worldwide gross to Rs. 1026 crore.
The feat, now also makes Aamir Khan’s Dangal the first ever Hindi movie to cross this number.
