Hot was never hotter. The sensational ’70s gave full bloom to a host of songs which were sensuous and seductive. And, who was the actress who dominated the scene then? Well, no prizes for guessing. It’s Zeenat Aman. She’s one daring lady Bollywood had seen in a long time. Back then, there was no excessive skin show, but, the temperatures soared once the music started ringing and the rain started falling while the lady entered the scene. On a musical note, the songs were highly melodious! The seductive Bollywood songs were a complete package featuring her.
I’m sure you still enjoy them amidst the cacophony now. However, she was not the only one who could set the screen on fire. Here’s a look into the most seductive Bollywood songs of the ’70s.
1. Bheegi Bheegi Raaton Mein
This song was picturized on Zeenat Aman and Rajesh Khanna in the film Ajnabee. Apart from being one of the best rain songs in Bollywood you can never go wrong with its seductive quotient. A rain drenched Zeenat Aman and a much exited Rajesh Khanna get soaked in the rain to give way to hotness on screen like never before. You thought all the Munnis and Shielas were sexy? Then go back to the ’70s for a while and check it out for yourself.
2. Ab Ke Sawan Mein Jee Dare
This Jeetandra and Reena Roy starrer film Jaise Ko Taisa had this essentially seductive number which was literally speaking ‘wet and wild’. Those who have heard the song are aware of how melodious it is one the ears. Reena Roy had been the ’70s and ’80s sex icon after Zeenat Aman. But this song was as sexy as it could get. All you need are the rains to enjoy the song a great deal. Wait for the summers to get over.
3. Dum Maro Dum
The not-so-conventionally seductive song Dum Maro Dum, from the 1971 film Hare Rama Hare Krishna, is still a rage among music lovers. But hey, what else do you need in a song to make it seductive if you have doped-looking and extremely beautiful Zeenat Aman? This song does not have the usual hero-heroine song-and-dance fest, however, the moves of Zeenat are far more than what you would really expect. If you haven’t seen the video then better do it now. But I’m sure only a handful will fall in this group.
4. Rang Mahal Ke Dus Darwaze
This song from the 1978 film Satyam Shivam Sundaram spelled seduction. The song itself is too beautiful (like the others in the film) but when you look it’s a different story altogether. Zeenat Aman’s bare back is worth watching and boy, does she look hot that way. The stripping goes on for a little while but don’t expect skin a la European or Hollywood films. It’s more subtle and subdued here which can easily be tagged as ‘less is more’. You can watch the movie to get the whole experience which is way more beautiful.
5. Bhor Bhaye Panghat Pe
White saree and a waterfall – the ingredients for a super sexy Bollywood song of the ’70s and if you get to add beautiful locales and a stunning actress it can’t get any better. Zeenat Aman’s super seductive act in this song is worthwhile more because of the wonderful song and her perfectly natural moves. If this is not sexy then what is? The song perfectly balances the divine and the sensuous, which you will experience once you watch it with your own eyes. Girl alert: A very handsome Shashi Kapoor is a delightful watch for you here. Better not be late.
6. Yeh Mera Dil Yaar Ka Deewana
Are we talking about the ’70s without Amitabh Bachchan? That would be blasphemy. Here’s one of his songs which is still as famous as it was at the time of the release of Don. We have an angry-faced cannot-be-melted tough man against the breathtakingly seductive Helen in this song. This could, by the way, easily be labelled an ‘item song’ had it been made now. Helen’s gown with that thigh high slit and her gyrating moves provide all the oomph that is required to rock a song like that. On top of that you have an infectious music as that which adds to the effect. You see, the ’70s were nowhere behind!
7. Chadti Jawani Meri Chaal Mastani
This song from the 1971 film Caravan is one heck of a sensual song that none of us have missed out. Remixed a lot of times – this song irrespective of that maintains its ’70s flavor. The song sung by legends Lata Mangeshkar and Mohammad Rafi stand out because of the sex quotient of Aruna Irani. She dances, sometimes suggestively, but the lyrics does most of the work. The famous Ketchup Song was a overtly sexed up remix of the song. Have you missed it? Don’t wait anymore.
8. Do Lafzon Ki Hai Dil Ki Kahani
It’s hard to forget this melodious number from The Great Gambler, but it is even harder to forget the hot-hot-hot chemistry of Amitabh Bachchan and Zeenat Aman. The searing hot chemistry makes us gape through the song all along and it’s hard to find someone who isn’t aware of it. Sensuality on screen has never been this smoking-hot before.
