Eyes are the most precious gifts of God to humans and hence, should be treasured with utmost care. It’s only because of them that you can value the real beauty of nature and other splendid things around you. Due to various reasons, children and adults experience poor vision. The weakening of eye sight may be caused either due to anatomical changes, eye diseases or injury to the eye. Ignoring sudden changes in your eye sight can not only even cause difficulties in carrying out daily activities, but may also be signs of other bodily conditions. It is for this reason; you need to consult a doctor at the earliest and prevent further escalation of the problem. Here are 7 signs which suggest you need to visit ophthalmologist right now.
People suffering from blurred vision find it difficult to look clearly at distant objects or signs. There can be several reasons for this, including nearsightedness (myopia) or farsightedness (hyperopia) as the top reasons for a blurry vision. It may also be caused due to astigmatism, which occurs due to an abnormality in the shape of the cornea. Therefore, you must visit your ophthalmologist at the earliest, before the problem gets any worse and affects your overall vision.
The other most concerning signal is difficulty in differentiating between colors either during day time or at night. This is also known as color blindness. The problem is generally reported in males. In females the disease is caused due to ocular disorders. And, if you struggle to differentiate between colors in faint light, it may be a sign of night blindness. In both cases, you must consult an ophthalmologist and optometrist to learn about the real cause.
If you are struggling with sudden onset of flashes of light combined with black floating spots then visit an ophthalmologist at the earliest. The problem may indicate a chance of retinal detachment. The disorder can be rectified through surgery. The problem if not treated on time may cause severe consequences later.
Redness in the eyes may be seasonal or due to certain allergies. Most of the eye allergies subside on their own if you maintain eye hygiene. But, if your eyes remain itchy & puffy and keep draining out water, there is something to worry about. The persistent redness may be caused due to rupture of blood vessels in the eye region or infection known as pink eye or conjunctivitis. Viral and bacterial forms of pink eye are dangerous and must be cured on time. You must maintain high level of sanitation when suffering from such a disease.
Eye pain can be of various types – dull or sharp, internal or external, stabbing or throbbing. In case pain in your eyes doesn’t subside with time, you must visit a doctor. It may be caused due to swelling of some inner part of your eyes. If you experience pain while rotating your eyeballs, visit to a doctor is a must.
Eye burning can cause serious hardships if the problem persists for long. There are various reasons which cause the problem including allergy, dryness, tiredness, vision stress (mostly caused due to spending long hours on computer) or combination of all the above mentioned reasons.
