With stress levels going up, a good eating system will provide us with energy and boost to keep going. With a few basic guidelines in mind a schedule can be made which ensures good digestion and overall well being. Dinner should be the lightest and smallest meal of the day, had preferably early in the evening. Follow the golden rule of no eating after eight in the evening. The body gets tired by the evening, needs to relax and unwind its functions. Having a heavy meal will cause pressure on your digestive and nervous system, causing insomnia. The idiot box is always on and an essential part of all our basic activities. Food with high salt content can lead to an over charged state of sodium that leads to bad health and heart diseases.
7. Ice Cream:
It might look like the most comforting bowl after a long day, but for starters it is full of fat. And your body will get no chance to burn it at night. So you body will be on a sugar rush and in turn will get stored as fat. Beware it is known to cause nightmares. All the sugar has been known to make you dull and low in the morning.
It’s a fast and easy quick bite, but not the ideal night snack. Going to bed after a plate of pasta full of cheese, heavy cream and tomato sauce is a sure invitation for fat. Most pasta has a high glycemic index, meaning it’s likely to delay sleep and keep you awake. Can also make you feel very full and lazy to do any other activity.
5. Candy Bars:
Beware your candy bar is playing tricks with you, next time you dream of a monster or witch under your bed. A recent study shows most people who eat candy in bed are prone to disturbed sleep. High level of sugar creates strange brain waves. They are the most famous comfort food when in you are depressed. But can cause fat deposits just as fast.
When sharing the bed avoid the garlic for more reasons than bad breath. It is a hot herb and causes heart burn. It is known to upset the stomach and might give you a sleepless night. Too much garlic has been known to cause skin allergies in people with sensitive skin.
In contradiction to popular belief large amounts of alcohol does not help you sleep. Instead it does not lead to a long lasting rest. Mornings are not refreshing and difficult to get into the gear. It interferes with the functions of sleep and causes awakenings throughout the night. Drinking to sleep causes a dependency, and later a frustrating cycle. It is a social evil and families are adversely affected by this habit.
2. Red Meat:
The pleasure of eating a large portion of red meat in dinner is exotic. However the problem lies in loads of proteins and fats that will keep your body working all night. Meat takes the longest to digest and while all the other organs are chilling, the digestive system is working over time. Preferably do not eat them right before bed. Meats have their own fat and the cooking medium they are cooked in, tend to make them even greasier. Fat takes a long time to get digested and put a large amount of pressure on the heart.
If your stomach has been a bad boy and not worked out since long, feed him pizza. Your tummy will get busy and keep you tossing and tumbling all night. The tomato sauce high levels of acidity, is a catalyst for acid reflux. They can cause heart burn along with the cheese and meats. It has high levels of carbohydrate, proteins and fats. They make you feel full and heavy for a long time and are generally consumed with aerated drinks that make it even more sinful. Or else try the ones with healthy toppings for a change or stop at one slice.
