6 Reasons Why Tina Fey And Amy Poehler Are Actually Awesome

Updated on 12 Aug, 2014 at 3:10 pm

No matter how many “filmy” award shows are being introduced each year in India, somehow, most of us cannot grow out of International Award Shows—like the Academy Awards, BAFTA or the Golden Globe Awards! Now, tell us one thing which you find the best about these shows? If you ask us, we wouldn’t bat an eyelid before telling you the reason—it’s their hosts! Intriguing, cool and super fun, be it the super awesome Oprah or the awesome “twosome” Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, they are ones who make the shows what they are! So, since the Golden Globe Awards has just wrapped up, let us take this opportunity to dig out some of the reasons for which the world regards the dynamic duo, Amy and Tina, as simply the best. Here we go—

6. They Simply Overturn the Oxymoron, “Female Friendship”

Can two successful women be friends? Err, while you’re searching for an answer, here’s the easiest gateway—Tina and Amy! Regarded widely as the epitome of picture perfect friendship, Tina and Amy come up as the two dynamic, impossible, unruly girls who are really comfortable in each other’s space and don’t give a sh*t about what others have to say! We absolutely adore the way these two divas, in 2014, dressed as each other’s “other” or inverses from the 2013 Golden Globe Awards!

5. “Scandal”, is it?

When it is Amy-Tina we’re dealing with, you just cannot let go by with simple leg-pulling—there’s more to it, friend! Yes, their tribute to the darling Kerry Washington was really beautiful and touching, but the way they spiced up the situation by artfully pronouncing “scandal”, is really, well, SCANDALOUS!

And, dare we forget the “Quote of the Day”—

“And now, like a supermodel’s vagina, let’s all give a warm welcome to Leonardo DiCaprio.”

4. They Can Beat the Sh*t out of ANYONE!

Well, hosts of public shows generally need to be witty and outspoken; however, with Tina and Amy around, this goes a bit further—always! Yea, a moment like this happened in the Awards function this year too, when Tina cut out a jig at Taylor Swift (who, quite ruthlessly pointed finger at Tina and Amy for having no respect for women!) by saying, when Amy received the Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical, “There’s a special place in hell for you!” You Tina, you!! You’re indeed something! Kudos to you!

3. If you’re Sexy, then regard me as the Sexiest!

Not always you’d see the eternally sexy (read, sex starved!) Bono being put on hold; and that too, publicly! Yea, the moment when Amy went out and got a message from Bono had indeed put on some people into the LOL mode, while put the rest on the OMG mode! And, later this sequence converted into the make-out session! Well, we’d better keep mum on that!

2. “Please welcome Mr. Golden Globe — my adult son from a previous relationship — Randy.”

If you’re watching the Golden Globe Awards, we ask you to watch it after finishing all your chores; for you’re genuinely not getting any moment off from Amy and Tina’s mischievous antics! One such epic instances from this year’s Golden Globe Awards would be the skit, “Who’s my Daddy?” which featured Ami Poehler (in a wig and suit) as the Mr. Golden Globe! Ah, well, do you know that it was one of the first instances which let them crackle their famous Jaqueline Bisset jokes?

“God, I hate being here! Jaqueline Bisset is backstage bothering me!”

"Please welcome Mr. Golden Globe — my adult son from a previous relationship — Randy."

1. Romance? Ah, they’re expert in that!

Yes, when it comes to romancing the who’s-who of the industry (err, we’re talking about the “scripted” ones!), none can do it better than this duo! And, this, when clubbed up with the epic and (in)famous Amy-Tina humor, can get a bit too scandalous!

This is what they had to say about George Clooney, “George Clooney, who would rather float away into space and die than spend one more minute with a woman his own age.”

Do we need to say anything more, ladies and gentleman?
