Whenever Indian cuisine is discussed, we automatically talk about the spicy Punjabi delicacies or the sour South Indian delicacies, as if only these two regions in India specialize in the culinary arts! What—you think it’s true? Well then, think twice—for, among innumerable other cuisines, we’ve also got the Nawabi Lakhnavi spread which is not an eclectic fusion of various other cuisines but still purely Nawabi. Here we have got a list of all those restaurants in Lucknow—the city of Nawabs—without a visit to which your trip to Lucknow will remain imperfect (both gastronomically and otherwise)—
5. The Mughal’s Dastarkhwan
If you want nice ambiance and polished décor with a hint of that Nawabi touch which Lucknow is famous for—and all of these within a tight budget (say, around 700-800 for two)—well, The Mughal Dastarkhwan is just your place! Located at the city centre, in Lalbagh, this restaurant serves some of the best Lakhnavi and Mughlai khana along with, of course, the staple Chinese and Punjabi dishes. If you’re in Lucknow, and want an authentic restaurant where you can spend a quality time with your family or someone special, along within gorging onto some great kababs, this must surely be your top priority. Our recommendation would be their mouth-watering Shahi Tukda—simply heavenly.
4. Rahim Hotel
It’s a quaint street-side restaurant near Akbari Gate at the old city which wipes off some of the best culinary wonders of Lucknow. If you rate a place in terms of the ambiance, then please steer clear of this place, but if you want a taste of Lucknow—then there’s no escape from visiting this place! Although they don’t have an array of dishes on offer, every option that they have is worth a taste. However, our recommendation would be their Nihari and super soft Kulchas—you’ll crave for more, we bet! A meal for two, here, would set you back by a “whopping” 250 bucks!

3. Wahid Biryani
A meal at this Aminabad restaurant will set you back by 200 bucks—yes, ONLY!
2. Tunday Kababi
Think kababs, think Tunday Kababi! This is how any Lakhnavi person would introduce this junction to you! Famous for their Galawati kababs, Tunday Kababi has their outlets in many parts of the city, but if you want to savor the best, you have to visit their age-old Aminabad joint. It’s again a pretty casual road-side restaurant with a very limited seating facility which gets exceptionally heated up during the summers—but who cares! As long as you have world’s best kabab spread in front of you, none matters! A meal at this joint will make you poorer by a massive 125 bucks (for one)!
1. Prakash Kulfi
When in Lucknow, the culmination point of your foodwalk must be this quaint old (again street-side shop) Prakash Kulfi. Prepared from pure cow milk, the taste of a bar of kulfi from Prakash isn’t like anything you’ve tasted before. It’s neither too sugary nor artificially colored, and the falooda is just perfect! The best thing about Prakash’s Kulfi is that you don’t need any rose syrup to add an extra taste to it—yes, they are so great! A plate of Kulfi in here would set you back by 25 bucks.
