4. Pailan College of Management and Technology

Located near IIM, Kolkata, at Joka, Pailan College of Management and Technology is regarded as one of the best colleges which impart quality education in hospitality and tourism management. The course that the college has to offer is called Bachelor of Travel and Tourism Management. It is a three years’ course the certification of which is done by West Bengal University of Technology. There are three areas on which specialization is offered: Tour Package Operation, Event Management and Travel Agency Management. Admissions are based on an entrance examination given by the institute, or those who have passed the CET are also eligible to apply. The basic criterion for application is, however, 10+2 pass with English as a compulsory subject. Since this is a private institution, the fees structure is very high. The college boasts of a 100% placement to all its students. The institute also offers a Postgraduate diploma in tourism management.

3. Central Institute of Hotel Management and Catering

Affiliated to the Utkal University of Culture and accredited by Govt. of Odisha and UGC, this institute provides a three years’ bachelors’ degree course in tourism and hospitality services (BDTHS). Following the norms laid by the university, the admission is strictly on the basis of merit of the student in their 10+2 boards and the final selection is based on Personal Interviews. The institute, though quite new, have been offering great placement ventures to the students, including placements in Jaipur Palace Hotel, Clerks Amer Hotel, and other such seven star hotels.

2. NSHM Knowledge Campus

Located in Durgapur, within a few years’ of its inception, it has become one of the best institutes around in Eastern India for the study of Travel and Tourism Management. The course that they have to offer is named as BBM (honors) in Travel and Tourism Management. It is a 3 years’ course at the end of which campus interviews are arranged by the management of the institution. The degree is awarded by the West Bengal University of Technology and the admission and selection procedure is through an admission test conducted by the institute—or those who have seated for the CET (held by WBUT) are also eligible to apply. Since it’s a private institution, the fees structure is quite steep—on the higher side of 1.5 lakhs per year. However, the college claims to place all its students in good companies and hotel chains around the globe.

1. Indian Institute of Travel and Tourism Management

With the head quarters in Gwalior, IITM built a branch in Bhubaneshwar to cater to the needs of the students who wish to pursue Travel and Tourism in Eastern India. IITM’s commitment is to top quality human resources for tourism and other allied services. Ranked as no. 1 in India, this Government institution offers a post graduate diploma in management (tourism and travel) (PGDM), a 1 year diploma courses which can be done after graduation in any subject. However, there are various short term courses too for students who’ve passed 10+2 but we recommend you the PGDM courses as they offer a great range of placement offers post that. The admission procedure to the same is through a centralized entrance exam conducted by IITTM which carries 70% weightage followed by a PI and GD sessions respectively carrying 30% of the weightage. Since it’s a Government institution, the fees to the same is quite nominal indeed. The institute also offers MPhil and PhD courses on Travel and Tourism.
