Pune’s Oldest Doctor Is 102 Years Old. He Works 10 Hours A Day And Charges Patients Only Rs 30

It takes a strong will power to stay alive and live a happy life and Dr. Balwant Ghatpande is determined to live. On March 15, 102-year-old Balwant Ghatpande became one of the oldest doctors in Pune and he has no retirement plans yet.

Dr. Ghatpande works tirelessly 10 hours a day and when he is not seeing patients, he spends his time increasing his knowledge by reading medical journals and newspapers. This doctor has a unique wish. He says,

Until my death, I wish to continue to practice medicine. I pray that I should die while working in the dispensary.

Ghatpande, who do not like sitting idle, considers himself a workaholic. He also considers himself lucky to be a doctor. He wants to help as many people as possible. While describing his love for his profession, he said,



Being a doctor is one the most noble professions, where you can do the highest service to people. It gives humanitarian satisfaction, as well financial security. I have received everything from this profession, from reputation to money and the goodwill of people.

Dr. Balwant Ghatpande spends maximum time treating patients. Another surprising thing about him is that he provides his service to patients at just Rs. 30 and ends up donating most of his earnings to charity.

Regular exercise and a moderate diet are the secret of Dr. Balwant Ghatpande’s healthy living. The doctor’s age and lifestyle prove that age is just a number. All you need is determination and a motive to live to conquer death.
