So we all think of dogs and cats the moment somebody says pets. But there are some for whom it pops up miniature donkeys, geckos or even alligators. Crazy as it may sound, people today are keeping the most unusual creatures as pets.
On many crazy evenings, we all have taken part in debates where each one of us thinks our pet is the best. Even people with lizards, skunks and cockroaches put up a great fight. Yes they classify as pets and the globe is dotted with people who are living with them under one roof. There are also rich brats in Middle East who even own African lions and leopards for pets, but that is matter to be discussed on a later date.
Let’s read a little more about strange animals, people are keeping as pets –
10. Sugar Gliders
They are pocket sized marsupials and extremely friendly. But they cannot be toilet trained so need a cage they can call their own. They are naturally nocturnal and make great playmatesin the evenings. Be sure to get them neutered or soon your house will be full of them. And be ready to clear the mess created by constant spitting out of food.
9. Guinea pigs
Guinea pigs are great for homes with small kids. They are larger than hamsters and furry. But be sure not to leave your toddler alone with it at any time. Theyare easy to care for and need a roomy cage to sleep.
If your child is allergic to fur and hair get him a reptile. Geckos are great pets and children seem to love them. When selecting one, opt for a leopard one as it won’t be able to climb walls.
Finch is a small beautiful bird that won’t be as noisy as a parrot. They make lovely pets, but do get them in a pair or else they get very lonely.

For people living in small apartments, the hermit crabs are great pets. They have little or no maintenance and make perfect choice. Just grab an old fish tank, put some gravel, food water and then drop in your hermit. Be ready for the initialpinching that will go down as they get used to you.
For people who are in love with lizards and reptiles, Iguanas make perfect pets. They are most happy in a warm home and in cage that gives them ample freedom. Let me warn you they can grow up to six feet long. And there is one thing that they demand which is provision for UVA and UVB lights in the cage.
2. Ant Farms
For children that have a bent towards scientific things and live creatures, get them an ant farm. They are easy to construct and need little or no maintenance.
