The advertising world is constantly changing. There’s no doubt about it. Though keeping up with challenges requires much effort, new strategies help marketers stay at the top of the game and achieve their goals. Looking back at the year 2018, one thing is sure that a lot of marketers pushed the envelope to create some brilliant ads. But at the same time not all the ads are created equal. There are many which stood out but there are also some which failed to create an impression. Today, we will talk about 10 brilliant ads in 2018 ads that struck chords with the Indian audience.

 

1. Start A Little Good (Hindustan Unilever)

One of finest ads in the Indian advertising world, Hindustan Unilever has created a thought-provoking film that brings people’s attention to the water crisis in India by making them understand the value of water and in turn motivate them to save it. The film is part of its CSR initiative — ‘Start A Little Good’. The ad urges every citizen to do their bit.

2. #BreakHaiBantaHai (Kit Kat)

Through its iconic campaigns, Kit Kat has established itself as a brand that encourages youth to enjoy occasional breaks from the fast-paced life. Brand ambassadors, Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Sheikh gave a new meaning to the concept of breaks with this campaign Karo jo karna hai, break mein banta hai. The ad reminds the youth to enjoy their breaks without any pressure and fear of judgement.

 

 

3. Bixby Voice Assistant – #VoiceForever (Samsung)

The ad brings up innovation in a compelling story. The ad film is inspired by the real-life story of a patient suffering from Motor Neuron Disease (MND). The MND is a rare but devastating illness which leads to progressive paralysis. Samsung and the ‘Asha Ek Hope Foundation’ are developing the first personalized AI Voice assistant for the patient’s young daughter, so that her voice can live forever.

 

 

4. #100SaalSe100SaalTak (Britannia)

The company is in this business for 100 years and to mark this special milestone, the brand launched a multi-media campaign. The ad beautifully brings several moments across an Indian’s life where someone reached out for a Britannia product. The campaign pays tribute to the love and trusts India has bestowed on it for so many years. This one surely made it to 10 brilliant ads in 2018 list.

 

 

5. The Adventures of Hunny and Choocha (Pepsi)

What’s life without food and good friends! Pepsi celebrated friendship, food and fun through this ad Kyun sookhe sookhe hi? It perfectly captured the camaraderie between the popular film Fukrey star cast that included Pulkit Samrat, Varun Sharma and Manjot Singh, who play Hunny, Choocha and Lalli respectively. The ad highlights that snacks are best enjoyed with a chilled glass of Pepsi.

 



 

#6. Pet Pujo (Fortune Foods)

In this controversial ad, Fortune Foods, celebrating the theme of Durga Pujo, showed a Bengali couple eating fish and meat. The ad shows YouTuber Sawan Dutta cooking various veg and non-veg Pujo-themed dishes, with the punch line, ‘May the Pujo be prosperous, may the pet pujo (worship of the stomach, as in eating) begin’. However, the ad irked many religious groups. This ad has all it takes to make it into 10 brilliant ads in 2018.

 

 

7. #KeralaIsOpen (Samsonite)

Through this ad, Samsonite urged people to rebuild the state’s economy and revive its tourism. The God’s Own Country suffered a setback owing to the devastating monsoon floods. The ad campaign endeavored to motivate more tourists to experience the affection of the beautiful state.

 

 

8. Dragging Yourself to Work (Naukri.com)

Job site Naukri.com initiated its campaign, “Dragging yourself to work everyday? No More!” to reach out to people who suffer from the weekly syndrome of ‘Monday Blues.’ The humorous ad highlighted the idea of seeking and finding jobs which one loves to go to. It dramatized the state of mind of unhappy employees and brought forth their struggles.

 

 

9. P&G Shiksha (P&G)

The ‘Choose For Change’ campaign highlights the right to quality education. It portrays the heart-warming story of Appu’s anticipation of school and how his father deals with his impending disappointment.

 

 

10. OPPOF9Pro Starry Purple – The wait is finally over (Oppo)

Oppo promoted its brand new F9 Pro through this visually appealing ad. It showed the smartphone’s feature by focusing on its colour. The smartphone comes with all-new VOOC Flash Charge and is available in a striking ‘Starry Purple’ colour option.
