Kudukhov, who won Silver in the 60-kg freestyle event in London, had died in a car crash back in 2013, but ahead of the Rio Games this month, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) did a re-test his London Games sample which failed the latest dope test.
The re-test was part of standard IOC practice, which now stores samples for up to 10 years to allow the use of advanced testing methods.
According to the Indian Express
, the samples of five wrestlers, including Kudukhov tested positive for banned substances. As Kudukhov is a silver medallist, he will now lose his medal to Yogeshwar Dutt who won Bronze in London.
The upgrade would be done once IOC officially announces the failed dope test.
