Ashish Chaturvedi is one of the three men who exposed the Vyapam scam in Madhya Pradesh. Chaturvedi, however, is the one who blew the whistle over the involvement of relatives of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan in the scam.
He has suffered four attacks on his life since (the last one happened as recently in May), yet he moves around Gwalior on a bicycle.
Of course, he is well guarded – two police constables are protecting him round the clock. The problem is that his security guards find themselves unable to protect him in a proper way because he rides a bicycle.
The guards have been provided with a bike but Ashish (26) cannot drive a motorcycle and the guards cannot make him ride pillion.
Technically, it is impossible to protect a witness when the witness himself is riding pillion.
This is why his security guards are forced to cover him in the weirdest way imaginable – wherever Chaturvedi goes, a security guard sits on the carrier of his bicycle. The guards have now approached higher authorities citing their disability to protect Ashish under the situation. They have demanded a change in the security system. Dainik Bhaskar reports that the police may provide an additional bike for one of the security guards. This means that Ashish can ride pillion on one with a security guard while the other follows them on the second bike.
