She has also told the police that Chauhan has a licensed revolver and has threatened her family.

A case of extortion and criminal intimidation has been registered at Delhi’s Tughlaq Road police station against the accused, Pradeep Chauhan.

Police said they were still in the process of questioning Chauhan and no decision on his arrest has been taken.

The incident is related to a conversation between Mrs. Singh and Chauhan at her residence on August 6. Chauhan had allegedly secretly recorded the conversation and later threatened to doctor it and share it on social media websites to harm the reputation and political career of the Minister and his family.

Police sources claim that the suspect intended to splice her conversation to distort the content.

The police have said they are treading very cautiously in this case as were still in the process of recording the statements of both the parties.

V K Singh retired as the chief of the Indian Army in 2012 and subsequently joined the BJP. He is one of two ministers of state for Foreign Affairs.
