Twitteratis Go Berserk As Kejriwal Exempts Women From Odd-Even Formula

Earlier this month, we reported about Delhi adopting odd-even formula from January 1, 2016  so as to curb the growing menace of air pollution in the national capital.

With the date of its implementation now inching closer, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has unveiled the final implementation plan for those who would be exempted from the plan.

It was thus decided at the meeting, that the cars driven by women, or driven by women with no accompanying male passengers above the age 12 years, VIP vehicles, CNG vehicles with proof, and two-wheelers would be among those who would be exempted from the odd-even restriction.

In the meeting, it was also confirmed that special powers would be granted to Delhi Police during this time that will allow them to impose a fine of Rs 2,000 on the violators.

With everything set in motion and with the final exemption list now released, people, especially the one on micro-blogging site Twitter seemed to have noticed that how this list is partial towards male gender.

Unable to digest this fact they took this issue online and decided to Tweet about it.

Here are few of those tweets:

Though it was also revealed that every Thursday, there would be a  periodic review to assess whether the list of those exempted needs to be changed, Twitteratis were still not convinced and kept the attack on, and some questioned Delhi CM’s motive:

Even as Twitteratis continue their attack on Delhi CM’s odd exemption list, we must point that a similar group of people had trolled the writer Chetan Bhagat when he had pointed to same issue:

At that time Bhagat was not only trolled for his point of view but many had even gone to the extent of calling him misogynist and being against women’s safety.
