Oamaru North Otago (New Zealand) authorities have built a tunnel or an underpass for blue penguins so that they can safely go to their nests from the ocean and vice versa without risking their lives. The Oamaru Blue Penguin Colony there is home to world’s smallest penguins. They are small in size and don’t have a very long life-span. Also, they can reproduce only after they are three-years-old. So, to conserve the species, the authorities took this step which has received lot of applause from people across the globe.
