US president-elect Donald Trump has announced that after becoming president, he would only take $1 a year as his salary and not the $400,000 that they usually get.

He further added that he is planning to take no vacation as the US president during his tenure.

Trump, during his election campaign, had promised to not to take the president’s salary and once again confirmed the fact on November 13 when be was giving an interview to US broadcasters CBS.

When asked then why would he even taking that $1, he said the only reason he was doing so was because by law he was supposed to take minimum a dollar.

“I think I have to by law take $1, so I’ll take $1 a year.”

Trump further added that he would not take any vacation as there was “so much work” to be done for the people.

“We have so much work. There’s so much work to be done. And I want to get it done for the people. I want to get it done. We’re lowering taxes, we’re taking care of health care. I mean, there’s just so much to be done. So I don’t think we’ll be very big on vacations, no.”

On November 8, 2016, Trump, who was US’s Republican candidate for the Presidential election, had shocked many when he defeated his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton to become US 45th President.
