Even as BJP high command headed to Lucknow to decide on UP’s fate, PM Modi headed to Uttarakhand to attend Trivendra Singh Rawat’s oath taking ceremony as their new CM.

56-year-old Rawat is a long-time RSS pracharak and is now the ninth Chief Minister of Uttarakhand.

BJP  had swept the hill state in the 2017 assembly election and won 57 of the 70 seats.

While Rawat till now was an unknown name for many, he is said to have played a key role in the party’s victory in Uttrakhand.

His role thus ensured that he was unanimously elected as Uttrakhand’s CM during party legislature meeting on March 16.

He was sworn in at Dehradun’s Parade Ground on March 18 in presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President Amit Shah, and Home Minister Rajnath Singh.

Just after the oath taking ceremony, Rawat also held his first cabinet meeting so as to decided on crucial matters with regards to the state.
