The Universe is an amalgamation of possibilities; there is so much to explore and so much to learn. In synch with this idea it is safe to say that there are things that we believe in but which might not quite be proved. But isn’t the very basis of discovery and learning which is based on faith and conviction in probabilities? It is not de rigueur for everything that is believed in to be corroborated. So here is a list of some of the myths that stand strong without any substantiated evidence. The top 10 human believes without proof.
Cryptids are animals whose existence in spite of being suggested and often documented has never been recognized by scientific consensus. The famous Yeti of the Himalayas, the Loch Ness Monster in Scotland, the infamous West Virginia Mothman and Sasquatch in North America are all examples of such animals. There have been sightings and amateur photographs no doubt but they haven’t been officially acknowledged. Nevertheless that has not stopped people from believing in them.

We all have lost someone whom we would love to speak to for one last time, seek answers or even closure. It is the psychics that give credence to this belief of ours. It could well be our weakness of letting go but we certainly do believe in it. Well, perhaps not all but there are many takers for the idea of mediums that speak to people who have crossed over to the other side!

Sixth sense or gut feeling, call it what you will, but we have often found ourselves taking certain decisions based on plain and simple intuitions. Whether it is an actual science is a subject which has been debated across the logical world but the fact is that it is a belief in a power greater than ourselves which helps us make tough calls. Who or what or even how are questions that do not seem to have a viable answer. We believe in intuitions but cannot without a speck of doubt prove it!

We all know our sun signs and we all read the daily horoscope (of course there are several disbelievers as well). Anyways, the fact is that the concept of astrology and stars shaping our lives are notions that have been around for centuries. So much so that to this day fixing of arranged marriages in countries like India depend on astrology. There is no real proof which can support the influence of astrology but then again does one really need proof to believe in it?

Million dollar movies across the globe have been made based on the notion of the existence of aliens but there hasn’t been any verifiable proof to vouch for the green man’s actual existence! Of course, there have been reports of numerous sightings and even conspiracy theories shrouding the same but to this day no one has been able to give proof of life outside earth.

As children, and perhaps even as grown-ups, we have contemplated on the possibility of spirit-life. There have been many who have attempted to provide proofs of the existence of ghosts or the paranormal but there are always cynics who had provided logical explanations to events termed supernatural or ghostly. Whether we believe in it or not is up to us but there is no scientific proof of it being true. But then again there is no proof of ghosts not existing, is there?

You may say ‘As you sow, so shall you reap’ but is there any real proof in it? It might well be just inferences drawn from the occurrence of an event and the knowledge of the past and nothing more. There isn’t any proof that can prove beyond doubt that karma actually exists. All that we refer for believing in it are anecdotes passed on to us whether through religious teachings or the society. But that doesn’t stop us in living by its principle, does it?

2. Religious texts:
Every religion in this world has religious texts that are testaments to our beliefs and also the way we lead our lives to certain extents. But is there any way to prove the contents of the texts or simply the stories that circulated among people who lived thousands of years ago? The morals and the guidelines nevertheless are paths that millions follow without stopping for a moment to demand evidence!

Does God really exist? We cannot say for sure but we have the faith that he does in the million and one forms that humanity portrays him in. The idea of a miracle by god, the idea of everything created and run by god is bigger than we can sometimes fathom and it most certainly cannot be quantified or confirmed. But that doesn’t sway the believers from their conviction or else there wouldn’t be as many temples, mosques and churches in the world, would it?
