Born in a Persian family, Hasrat started writing verses at the age of 20. He fell in love with a girl named Radha and wrote beautiful prose dedicated to her. Jaipuri then moved to Mumbai and started working as a bus conductor early in his career. During a mushaira eve, Hasrat was spotted by Raj Kapoor’s, who gave him the golden chance to write lyrics for his love story ‘Barsaat’. 10. Yeh Mera Prem Patra Padh Kar Tum Naaraaz Na Hona
Movie: Sangam (1964)Singer: Lata Mangeshkar and Mohammed Rafi Yeh mera prem patra padh kar was featured in a romantic drama direct by Raj Kapoor. Hasrat had initially written the song as a poem for his beloved love Radha – a Hindu girl. He beautifully penned down his emotions for the girl, irrespective of the religious rift the two of them were bound under.
9. Jiya Beqaraar Hai, Chayi Bahar Hai
Movie: Barsaat (1949)Singer: Lata Mangeshkar This song was the first exclusively written by Hasrat Jaipuri to get recorded as part of his introduction to Bollywood, in Raj Kapoor’s musical love story “Barsaat”. It made way for the entry of Jaipuri into mainstream lyricist category.
8. Zindagi Ek Safar Hai Suhana
Movie: Andaz (1971)Singer: Kishore Kumar Written by Hasrat, the song was composed by duo of Shankar Jaikishan. This track topped the Binaca Geetmala in year 1971. 7. Baharon Phool Barsao
Movie: Suraj (1966) Singer: Mohammed Rafi Apart from Hasrat who fetched the prestigious Filmfare Award for this song, Mohammed Rafi also bagged an award being selected as the best playback singer for lending his voice to track. Duo of Shankar Jaikishan won best music director award for the same.
6. Saanson Ke Taar Par, Geet Gaya Pathro Ne (Duet)
Movie: Geet Gaya Patharon Ne (1964)Singer: Mahendra Kapoor and Asha Bhosle This song was directed by famous music director Ramlal. Hasrat Jaipuri’s lyrics were supported by melodious tunes designed around the lyrics by Ramlal, which added to the splendor of the song.

4. Tum Mujhe Yun Bhula Na Paoge
Movie: Pagla Kahin Ka (1970)Singer: Mohammed Rafi Music for Tum Mujhe Bhula Na Paoge was given by Shankar Jaikishan. Famous actress Helen, Shammi Kapoor, Asha Parekh and Prem Chopra were part of the film. Its music scores won great accolades from critiques and audience both.
