Top 10 serial killers
Generally, there are two types of murderers — first, who kill someone to take revenge and second, who kill as a professional to spike his bank account. But apart from these heavy-handed felons, there’s another breed which kills only for joy and atonement. They love killing because there are plethora of reasons behind there god-awful deeds. On this page of TopYaps, we’re not deciphering those reasons, psychological or whatever, but will look at top 10 brain-sick people who enlisted their names in the list of notorious serial killers across the world.
10. Dean Corll (America):
This serial killer from Texas was responsible for kidnapping, torturing, raping and murdering at least 27 people between 1970 – 1973. Corll’s first victim was an 18-year-old college freshman named Jeffrey Konen, killed on September 25, 1970. He was also known in his neighborhood as “The Candy Man”.
9. Gary Ridgeway (America):
Also known as Green River Killer, Gary’s crimes, methods, and bizarre thought behaviors never cease to amaze us. According to Ridgeway, murdering young women was his “profession”. His victims were largely female prostitutes and teenagers who were oftentimes picked from the Pacific Highway South (Washington State Route 99). This serial killer read the Bible at work, drank beer and solicited prostitutes for over 20 years.
8. Andrei Chikatilo (Russia):
Russia’s premier serial killer of this century was born in the Ukraine on October 16, 1936. The prime reason behind Chikatilo’s killing spree was to wipe out the population of ‘undesirables’. He was fond of cutting the tongues of his victims before ripping their body parts. He always experienced great sexual pleasure from his actions, which classifies him as sadistic.
7. Ed Gein (America):
Inspiration for many silver screen villains, Gein’s actions from decades ago inspired the movie Psycho and its sequel, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and also the more recent movie The Silence of the Lambs. His experiments with the dead bodies were bizarre. He would construct objects from the bones and skin and would store the organs in the fridge to eat later. He also committed acts of necrophilia on the bodies.
6. Gerald Stano (America):
A former short order cook, Stano was a notorious serial killer known for truly enjoying the act of killing with glee and impunity. His decade-long crime spree began in 1969 and spanned across three states Florida, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Stano picked up a number of hitch-hikers and young women, murdering them via shooting, stabbing or strangulation. Apprehended in 1980, he was sentenced to life in prison until his execution by the electric chair in Florida, 1998.
5. Bruno Ludke (Germany):
Born in Germany in 1909, Ludke was a petty thief and mental retard who got off on torturing animals. At eighteen he started killing humans, obsessively stalking anyone who even remotely turned him on. His murderous career was particularly prolific in the years leading up to WW2, when, while working as a laundry truck driver, he stabbed and strangled as many as 80 women, frequently raping them before and even after their deaths.
4. Henry Lee Lucas (America):
America’s most notorious serial killer was born on August 23, 1936 in Virginia. In June 1983, Lucas was arrested by cops for possessing a deadly weapon. In his cell, he began confessing to hundreds of murders. Egged on by investigators from around the country, Lucas’ confessions became increasingly far fetched. It is unclear how many murders he actually did commit but his twisted list comprises at least 500 murders.
3. Javed Iqbal (Pakistan):
Javed Iqbal was the sixth child (fourth son) of Mohammad Ali Mughal, a well-off trader. In December 1999, Iqbal sent a letter to police and a local Lahore newspaper confessing to the murders of 100 boys, all aged between six and 16. In the letter, this serial killer claimed to have strangled and dismembered the victims – mostly runaways and orphans living on the streets of Lahore – and disposing their bodies using vats of hydrochloric acid.
2. Albert Fish (America):
There are few serial killers in American history who are remembered today as deranged and fiendish as the seemingly kind and harmless, Albert Fish. He looked like every child’s favorite grandfather but behind the quiet facade of his silver hair and mustache, lurked a hideous monster who preyed on the young and the innocent with his horrific “instruments of hell” — a meat cleaver, a butcher knife and a saw.
1. Pedro Alonso Lopez (Colombia):
And here comes the most horrific serial killer of world’s history. The son of a penniless prostitute, Pedro was the seventh of 13 children, and his early years could be described as anything but joyous. Lopez claimed to have raped and killed at least 100 girls from various Indian tribes throughout the region. In 1980, while in police custody, Lopez revealed that he had performed similar grisly acts with more than 100 others throughout Peru and Colombia. Police were skeptical at first, but Lopez escorted agents to his burial sites, where they uncovered 81 bodies.
