10. The Onset:
It all began when three friends Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne came together in Jobs parents’ garage to form something radical; something that would change the way the world looked at hand held devices and personal computers. 9. Apple I:
It was the first Apple Computer which was hand built by Steve Wozniak. Marking its debut in the year 1976, it was the first all-in-one microcomputer with which Apple began its journey. With high speed and memory as its features; it was very much ahead of its time in comparison to its competitors. It was priced at $666 and came as a kit. Over 200 units of Apple I were sold and today it is the most collectible PC of all time.

The watershed event of Apple’s success was the launch of Macintosh in the year 1984. Steve Jobs introduced Macintosh at the Company’s stakeholders meeting in January that year and the rest as they say is history. It was the first affordable computer priced at $2495. It debuted with the famous ad aired during the third quarter of Super Bowl XVIII, directed by Alien auteur Ridley Scott.

7. Return of Steve Jobs:
In 1985, a power struggle ensued between Jobs and John Sculley which finally led to Jobs resigning from Apple. Steve Jobs was then touted as a relentless zealot who was impossible to be handled. But in 1997 with the dwindling fortunes of the company; it was this zealot who was needed more than ever. That moment was the beginning of an enigmatic technological journey.

The iMac or the Computer Candy was introduced in the year 1998 and went on to become the best-selling personal computer in America. The plummeting fortunes of Apple transformed and took a turn towards the better as 800,000 units were sold in its first five months. The iMac was pleasing to the eyes sans the cluttered cords which connected monitors, keyboards and CPUs which made it attractive for the first time computer buyer.

5. Mac OS X Releases:
The Mac OS X was called the virtually cash proof OS which gave way to open source programming. The various releases of Mac OS X through six different iterations were easy to use; light on the eyes with soft edges, translucent colors and pinstripes; features that made it even more attractive to users.

Apple’s media tablet; the iPad was introduced on January 27th
2010 running on a modified version of iOS. It offered to the user multi-touch access to newspapers, magazines, ebooks, textbooks, photos, movies, TV shows videos, music, word processing documents, spreadsheets, video games, and most existing iPhone apps.

It was launched in the year 2003 and offered music download to enthusiasts legally at 99 cents per song. With it Apple entered the digital music sales scene revolutionizing it. Being far superior to any of its competitors; the fact that iTunes was integrated with iPod actually aided to its popularity and growth. iTunes sold 1 million songs in its first week and more than 50 million songs in a year.
