Development needs some sacrifice and Silicon Valley was not an exception. There was a time when the area in California was known simply as Santa Clara Valley, but with time the nickname of Silicon Valley overshadowed the original name. Where now stands a city of tall buildings commanding the heights of technology stood farmlands producing everything from grains to fruits. Computer chips have beaten potato chips.
