Two heavily armed terrorists opened fire near the mini-secretariat in Allah Pir area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district. The location is very close to Army’s brigade headquarters. A J&K policeman was killed when terrorists opened fire on the security forces.
According to reports, the terrorists attacked at around 7:30 am on Sunday after they were spotted by the police.
In another incident, security forces killed three terrorists in an encounter near the Line of Control (LoC) in Nowgam sector in Handwara. Four weapons have been recovered from the terrorists.
The Poonch terrorists are initially hid inside an old bungalow some 300 meters away from Poonch Brigade.
The martyr, Havildar Raju of the Crime Investigation Department’s special branch with the Poonch Police, tried to enter the bungalow when he was shot.
Reports say that the terrorists have left the bungalow and one of them is hiding in an under construction mini-secretariat while the second one is inside a school.
Two others, sub inspector Manzoor Hussain and a civilian, were injured when the terrorists opened fire
According to a police source, the terrorists probably sneaked through the security grid along the Line of Control into Poonch town and launched the attack. Security forces have cordoned both the hideouts. Firing is on between the terrorists and the forces.
