Prime Minister Narendra Modi has scored a big win for India’s bid to be admitted to the Nuclear Suppliers Group or NSG, a 48-member club of nuclear trading nations.

Swiss President  Johann Schneider-Ammann has given its nod to support India in its efforts to become a member of NSG.

On his trip to Switzerland, PM Modi also raised the issue of black money stashed in Swiss banks, the recovery of which figures prominently in the BJP’s agenda.

After their meeting PM Modi issued a joint statement with the Swiss President, saying that ‘combating the menace of “black money” and tax evasion’ would be their ‘shared priority’.

He then went on to add  that both him and Swiss President “discussed the need for an early and expeditious exchange of information to bring to justice the tax offenders.”

This was PM Modi’s the third leg of the 5 nation tour, which is now being considered one of its high points.

Before Switzerland, PM Modi had visited Doha and Qatar, and also inaugurated the ‘India – Afghanistan Friendship Damn’ in Heart, Afghanistan during a short visit.
