The ministry of external affairs has come out with a list of gifts received by Prime Minister, President, and various other officials, from January to March this year.

Surprisingly, Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj has surpassed PM Modi in terms of the number of gifts received.
As per the MEA list, Swaraj received 29 gifts overseas which are valued at Rs 2.23 lakh. Out of these gifts, the costliest one is of Rs 40,000 – a silver utility box.

At the same time, PM Modi received a tray which costs Rs 15,000. He has also received a blue colored bowl which is priced at Rs 10,000. In addition, various books has also been gifted to him including a poetry book in Urdu along with its English version.

The costliest gift that PM Modi received during the period is a watch worth Rs 15,000.

Moreover, Vice President Hamid Ansari has also received nine interesting gifts which includes Ladies Purse and Ladies Dress Material. He has also received a metal box worth Rs 40,000 and cufflinks costing Rs 2000.
Till now, the costliest gift received is by India’s envoy to Russia, PS Raghavan, which is a Rolex watch worth Rs 1.5 lakh.
The cheapest is a tissue paper box worth Rs 1000 received by Commerce and industry minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
In addition, foreign ministry joint secretary Sanjay Kumar Verma has also received an iPhone 6s worth Rs 59,000. Likewise, Secretary (East), Preeti Saran has also received Note 5 worth Rs 57,000.
