Sushma Swaraj Steps In To Help 800 Jobless Indians Starving In Jeddah

After hearing the plight of at least 800 jobless Indians starving in Saudi city of Jeddah, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has stepped in to help them.

They were starving for the last three days in Jeddah and Minister of State for External Affairs V.K. Singh is now ravelling to the Gulf nation to sort out the issue.

Her response came following a tweet by a man who mentioned the condition of these 800 Indians and sought her intervention.

Swaraj said Indians in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait were facing various problems relating to their work and wage.

The external affairs minister said the situation in Kuwait is “manageable”, but the matters are much “worse” in Saudi Arabia.

She said a large number of Indians have lost their jobs in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait and that their employers have not paid wages and closed down their factories.

Later, Ms. Swaraj posted pictures of food being provided to the Indian workers.
