Barooah boarded a British Airlines flight from Kyiv Boryspil International Airport, Ukraine, and left the airport without any hassle. However, in Istanbul, she was needed to go to another airport which was 65 kilometres away, to board her flight six hours later.

She was intercepted there and told that she will not be able to travel further without a transit visa and will be flown back to Kiev. A transit visa is a temporary short period visa during your journey. Shockingly, a flight to Kiev was available only in the next two days.
According to her mother, Purabi Barua, Aradhana was kept in a room with a few more people and she was upset over this.
Then his father approached Karimganj Deputy Commissioner Moloy Bora, who tweeted about Aradhana Barooah getting detained at Istanbul airport.
And as soon as Swaraj heard of the matter, she promptly replied and directed the Consulate General of India in Istanbul to act on it.
Within an hour, Aradhana’s ordeal was over. She was put on a flight to Dubai, and to Mumbai from there on.
All of them are all praises of Swaraj.
