Actor Sushant Singh Rajput often manages to stay in the limelight for reasons that many a times are far from good. But this time the actor has hit the headlines for doing something that many of his peers wouldn’t do. As per media reports, Sushant Singh Rajput has said no to a advertisement deal that would have paid him a whopping Rs 15 crore.

No doubt the amount is big enough! Then what made Sushant reject the deal?

Actually, the deal was for endorsement of a fairness product. It was a 3-year-long deal requiring Rajput to shoot for six commercials. If a recent report from Mid-day is to be believed, Sushant Singh has turned down the offer despite being lucrative monetarily because he doesn’t believe in endorsing such products. The portal quotes a source saying:

Sushant doesn’t believe in endorsing such products. So despite it being a lucrative offer, he immediately turned it down. He feels that he needs to be responsible about the kind of products he lends his face to, as several people look up to him.

A number of Bollywood actors, including Shah Rukh Khan, Yami Gautam, John Abraham, Siddharth Malhotra, Deepika Padukone and many others have endorsed such products. In fact, Priyanka Chopra had even expressed regret for promoting such products in early days of her career.

The debate about whether or not celebrities should endorse such products was kicked off by Abhay Deol in April 2017. As per media reports, at that time as well, Sushant had stood with Abhay Deol’s point and said that as responsible actors and citizens, they should not endorse or prefer one skin tone over the other.

Now, upon being approached by some fairness product brand whose name isn’t known, Sushant has refused the offer. Talking to mid-day recently, he said:

As responsible actors, it is our duty to not indulge in sending out incorrect messages. We should not, in any way, endorse or promote the ideology of preferring one skin tone over another.
