Once upon a time, director Rohit Shetty and actor Shah Rukh Khan were good friends. Their first venture together, ‘Chennai Express’, was a blockbuster hit that further cemented their friendship. After that, though they didn’t work together on another movie till ‘Dilwale’ last year, they remained good friends.
After ‘Dilwale’ though, things took a turn for the worse. The film was heavily promoted and anticipated as it brought back the “hit jodi” of SRK and Kajol; then it was released the same day as ‘Bajirao Mastani’ and was heavily criticized in reviews.
In fact, the film turned out to be such a disaster that it has soured Khan and Shetty’s friendship. It is being reported that the two have been blaming each other for the failure of the film. Inside sources have been quoted as saying that Shetty blames SRK for releasing the movie on the same day as ‘Bajirao Mastani’, while SRK blames Shetty for not working on ‘Dilwale’ hard enough.
Things have come to such a head between the two now that a third film that they were going to work on together next has been shelved. Rohit Shetty had even put ‘Golmaal Again’ on hold to do SRK’s project first. Now SRK will work in Imitiaz Ali’s film while Shetty will start shooting ‘Golmaal Again’ with Ajay Devgn.
