In a shocking incident in Etmadpur, a tehsil in Agra district of Uttar Pradesh, a vegetable vendor was assaulted by five men just because he exercised his right of way.
One of the assaulters was Samajwadi Party office bearer Muslim Khan Thekedar.
Etmadpur in Agra district is an assembly seat.
According to reports, the vendor, Nirottam Singh, merely asked Hazi Punni, Thekedar’s father, to let his ‘thela’ (cart) pass by. At this the infuriated man called up others, including Thekedar, and thrashed him.
The five men then reportedly urinated on Nirottam.

Nirottam filed an FIR with the cops following which the Khan and others were booked under various sections of the IPC including 269 (Negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) and 270 (Malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life).
Some people accompanied Nirottam to file a police complaint. Screen grab of Nirottam Singh speaking to the press. Pradesh18
Muslim Khan was on Thursday suspended by the party. The SP has also ordered a probe into the case.
Meanwhile, Khan claimed that it was Nirottam who abused his mentally unsound father in a drunken state. He accepted that he beat him up but denied that he urinated on him. Dharampal Singh of the BSP is the current MLA from Etmadpur. Of the five assembly constituencies in Agra, the SP only holds one seat, Jalesar, while the BJP and BSP have two each.
