All Schools Across India To Be Part Of ‘Freedom Fortnight’ Celebrations: HRD Ministry

Following government’s plan to celebrate upcoming Independence Day as ‘Independence festival’, Ministry of Human Resource Development on August 4 announced that they plan to arrange a series of events in educational institution across the country.

Earlier this week Union minister M Venkaiah Naidu had announced that the government would be celebrating ‘unsung heroes of India’ from August 9 to August 23.

Taking this initiative a step further, the HRD ministry plans to celebrate these 15 days as “Azadi 70- Yaad Karo Kurbani” (Freedom Fortnight) where they plan to re-instill the spirit of freedom struggle and national movement among the younger generation.

In order to do this, the ministry has issued a list of suggested activities to the Secretaries of Education of all states/UTs and even heads of CBSE, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangatan (KVS) and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti.

Under this, each school has to take up at least one activity in primary and middle schools and at least two activities in higher secondary schools.

Besides these activities, a mass singing of the National Anthem would also be conducted at 11.00 am on August 23 across all the schools in India.
