Hafiz Saeed Wanted To Teach Bal Thackeray ‘A Lesson’, Says David Headley

According to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operative David Headley, the reason LeT chief Hafiz Saeed targeted late Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray is because he “needed to be taught a lesson”.

The Pakistani-American terrorist, further disclosed that he told Saeed he would need “six months to complete the task” and then set out to do the job.

Headley, who is currently giving a deposition to a Mumbai court with regards to 26/11 attacks on the city, had earlier this week disclosed that LeT had planned to kill Thackeray in Mumbai.

He had then added that the plan had failed as the would-be assassin they hired was arrested.

Headley has now said that to plan the assassination he even visited the late Shiv Sena supremo’s residence as well as the Sena Bhavan in Mumbai for a recce.

The discloser was made in Headley’s second deposition in front of Mumbai Court. In his earlier deposition, he had claimed that Mumbai resident Ishrat Jahan was an LeT suicide bomber.

In today’s deposition Headley said that it was top LeT operative Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi, who had introduced him to Muzzamil Bhatt in 2006, and that it was Bhatt who was responsible for the Akshardham attack and recruiting Ishrat Jahan.
