Mohammed Shahabuddin is serving life in prison since 2005 for a slew of cases including kidnapping and murder.
He is a Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) member and was a former MP before he landed in prison during the Nitish Kumar government a decade ago.

Today, as the same Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad Yadav jointly rule Bihar, Shahabuddin finds himself back in the centre of power.
RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav himself included Shahabuddin in his party’s national executive panel on Monday sparking comments on the return of jungle raj in Bihar.
And do you know what Shahabuddin did for which he was convicted?
In 2004 he was one of the four who murdered two brothers, Girish Raj and Satish Raj, after drenching them in acid.
Of course, the RJD had to defend his inclusion:
Welcome to jungle…err…Bihar.
