Proving the rumors right, Uttar Pradesh Congress Party leader Rita Bahuguna Joshi on October 20 left Congress to join BJP.

The move was in the speculations for past few days, with many claiming that Joshi was unhappy about the fact that Congress had chosen an ‘outsider’ to be CM candidate in UP.

Joshi leaving the party just ahead of UP elections might come as a huge setback for Congress as she was also party’s former state head and had led the party in last assembly election.

Rita Bahuguna is the daughter of Congress stalwart Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna and her brother Vijay Bahuguna, too had left the party few months back.

After moving to BJP, Joshi said that she was unhappy with Congress, and how they had reacted to the recent surgical strike conducted by the Indian Army.

67-year old Rita was Congress MLA from Lucknow Cantonment area and formally joined the BJP in presence of BJP party president Amit Shah in Delhi.

In the past few days, many had claimed that Joshi felt sidelined after Raj Babbar was named the state chief and former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit was named as party’s chief ministerial candidate.

Since her moving to BJP, many congress leaders have come forward and criticized her while BJP leaders have come in her support.
