Gabriel Murta, a Brazilian referee, was insulted and slapped by players from Amantes de Bola during a regional league match between Brumadinho and Amantes da Bola.
Murta reacted by racing towards the changing rooms and returning with a firearm. He was calmed down by his linesmen and one of the goalies who requested him to return to the dressing rooms and leave the gun in his locker.
The ref, Gabriel Murta, is also a policeman in his regular day-job.
Referees’ association boss Giuliano Bozzano said, "Murta was due to undergo a psychological assessment later today and could face suspension or a permanent ban."
