Rash Driving In Delhi Claims Life Of Army Jawan

A speeding Audi car has killed Army soldier Naik Ram Swaroop Rajput (43) of 7 Assam regiment near the Delhi Cantonment area on March 2 evening.

The driver, identified as one Sarabjeet Singh, was held from the accident spot itself. He was arrested on charges of causing death by negligence.


Rajput had participated in the Army’s deployment in restoring law and order in Panipat and Hisar districts in Haryana during the recent Jat stir and had recently returned to his unit.

The deceased soldier leaves behind his wife and a two year old daughter. The army authorities are filing a Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) case against Sarabjeet Singh.

A probe has also been initiated to find out why this speeding car was not checked on any prior check post.
