Rahul Gandhi Supports ‘Udta Punjab’; Says Censoring Won’t Fix Drug Problem

Shahid Kapoor-starrer Udta Punjab has been in controversy for a while now. The movie focuses on drug problem in Punjab.

Supporting the movie, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi said that censoring the movie won’t fix the drug menace in the state.

He tweeted:

Recently, the reviewing committee set up by Censor Board banned “Punjab” from the title and wants the film to be set in a fictional land, not in the state.

Earlier, the board refused to release it without cuts.

Bollywood filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, who is co-producing the movie, compared country’s censor board to North Korea.

Further, he asked political parties to stay out the controversy because it is his battle.

The future of creativity and freedom of expression seems gloomy.
