The meeting follows the party’s decision to project veteran Sheila Dikshit as its chief ministerial candidate and appoint actor-turned-politician Raj Babbar as chief of its Uttar Pradesh unit ahead of next year’s assembly polls.
To his surprise, a party worker asked Rahul Gandhi if Sheila Dixit is 78-years-old then why the Congress party made her the CM candidate.
The Congress V-P replied by saying, “Sheilaji has worked in Delhi. She is experienced and thoughts are bigger than age.”

He expressed confidence that under Sheila Dikshit the state will usher in a new era of development.
“We will fight together and make UP the number one state. Party will fight with a plan” he said.
Rahul also highlighted the alleged misrule by several parties during the past 27 years.
Attacking PM Modi over the price rise in pulses, the Congress leader said rising inflation and high cost of essential commodities has made the lives of common people miserable.
”When a farmer sells his pulses, Modi ji gives him Rs 50 but when the same farmer buys his own pulses from the market he has to pay Rs 200,” Gandhi said.
The Congress faces the tough task of rebuilding its organisational network in the state, having won only 28 seats in the 2012 assembly polls and managing a vote share of just 13.2 per cent.
In the 2014 general election, it won just two seats—those of party chief Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi –of the 80 Uttar Pradesh has in the Lok Sabha. Watch the video:
