Ever since Shah Rukh Khan’s look in his forthcoming film, Raees, has come out, people have started giving pathani suits a miss and have started donning it.
Interestingly, news is of late there has been a surge in the sale of pathanis. In fact, requests for hand-stitched pathani have started coming in more. Tailors seem to busy meeting the requirements of consumers with such requests which have led to an increase in the sale of the attire across.
Looks like not just laymen but also our stars of Bollywood have given this look absolute thumbs up when we came across Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn in similar attire.
Jabbar, aged 51, has been working in the profession for a while; Abdul, who holds a shop named King Sons at Aliganj road in Lucknow, shares, “Consumers across age groups have started placing orders for a pathani like the one SRK has worn in the film. More and more boys, in the age group 18-20, have loved the attire as they have started requesting for a similar pattern. Especially after seeing someone like Shah Rukh wearing this kind of an attire, the fashion of owning a pathani falls back into trend.”
Another tailor, Nitu Shinde, aged 27, who runs a boutique at Vasai’s Evershine city, further adds, “orders have already started coming in of tailormade pathanis similar to what Shah Rukh was seen wearing in the film. The trend is catching up soon and has come back into fashion after a really long time.”
From the first teaser that came out over a year ago, the audience has been swooning over his dapper look.
This is the first time the Badshah has been seen in such a raw and rugged look and is grabbing eyeballs. Fans are taking inspiration and are walking down streets wearing pathanis.
Raees is creating quite a stir for its good content, its action sequences and for King Khan’s intense look. The film releases on January 25, 2017.
