Terror Attack Ends In Punjab With Death Of Three Militants; KPS Gill Points At ISIS

The terror attack that rattled the two decade long peace in Punjab has ended after 11 tense hours of gunbattle between the militants and security forces leaving at least 8 dead.


According to reports, three terrorists have been killed in the counter-offensive. Another six people, including a senior police officer, two home guards personnel and three civilians, were killed in the attack.

Police officials said that exact details of the number of terrorists killed will emerge only after the combing operation by the Punjab Police and other security agencies ends.

Punjab Police DGP Sumedh Singh Saini told reporters that besides being well-armed, the militants carried two GPS systems. Meanwhile, Pakistan has been quick to deny any involvement in the attack.


A high alert has been declared across major cities of the country. The Home Minister Rajnath Singh is chairing a high-level meeting to discuss the first high-level terror attack under the Modi government.
