Train, Internet Services Suspended After Protests In Pulwama

Following the clashes after the death of three local militants in a gunfight, train and internet services were suspended in Pulwama of south Kashmir.

According to the police, the Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police killed three Kashmiri militants affiliated to the Hizbul Mujahideen and Lashkar-e-Taiba in a pre-dawn gunfight on May 8 at Dogirpura.

After the news of encounter, locals took to the roads and staged protests. Eight people were injured in clashes between protesters and security forces.

However, Army had called it a ‘swift encounter’ as no time was given sympathisers, who have of late started gathering in numbers to overwhelm the security forces.

“By the time people started gathering for protests at the encounter site Saturday, the operation teams had finished the job and left,” officers told Indian Express.
