As UP Elections Near, Congress Might Field Priyanka Gandhi To Lead Campaign In State

After months of deliberations, the Congress has decided to field Priyanka Gandhi Vadra as their campaign leader in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh elections. According to The Hindu, Priyanka will now also travel extensively outside the Congress bastions of Rae Barelli and Amethi.

Congress spokesperson Satya Dev Tripathi said that the party has decided that Priyanka will be holding around 150 public meetings across UP in the coming months.

Calling it a “mind blowing campaign,” Tripathi added that Priyanka on an average will cover 2.5 assembly constituencies within the next six months.

Congress is currently waiting for Rahul Gandhi to return from his vacation abroad so they can present Priyanka as their leader in UP.

Reacting to the news, BJP took a dig at Congress and said that this shows that Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi has indeed failed.

They added that Congress is a ‘family party’ whose hunt for leadership is limited to just Gandhi family members.
