Prashant Kishor Rejected By Congress Workers In Raebareli And Amethi Because He Is Useless

Congress’s election strategist Prashant Kishor (PK) was given the job of reviving the electoral fortunes of the party in UP in the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, but his growing influence within the party has upset many.

The party workers in the Nehru-Gandhi bastions of Rae Bareli and Amethi, are already up in arms against the working of PK.

A media report suggests that the area workers of the party don’t consider him as valuable and want Priyanka Gandhi to lead the election campaign.

As a result they have not sent the names of volunteers to PK. The report also mentions that there is considerable dissatisfaction among the party workers related to his work.

It must be noted that Kishor has asked each district chief to form a team of 20 “motivated” people, who were ready to devote their “day and night” to the party.

Kishor has also distributed a 12-page proforma among the district heads of the party for their feedback on factors key to the party’s revival or survival in each district. The proforma contained questions on the party’s strengths, its weaknesses, requirements, key local and national issues to be highlighted, dominant caste equations, weak links of political opponents, among others.

Kishor has also asked Youth Congress workers to prepare at least one dedicated worker for every booth who will be provided with I-cards and mobile phones and they will be made to meet top leader to convey the ground situation.

The media report also quoted a party insider as saying that Priyanka Gandhi should decide what would be role of each party worker.

Earlier, PK told a team of young party members that he was only a strategist and the actual work had to be done by volunteers. His message: don’t fight with each other, don’t pay attention to rumours and gossip, just do your work. According to him, the party will more tickets and representation to young people in the state. PK will be camping in the state for the next 10 months.

PK has helped landslide victories for Narendra Modi in 2014 Lok Sabha elections and JD(U) in Bihar Assembly polls.

PK’s revival plan in the 403-seat UP assembly elections includes:

A 100-plus seat tally that will produce a fractured mandate, a Rs 400 crore campaign budget, a 500-strong strategy team, 200 rallies by Rahul Gandhi, a clearly defined and leading role for Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and creating and leading a Bihar-like grand alliance.
