Who do you think is the real kingmaker in contemporary Indian politics? Amit Shah? No, it is this man:
Prashant Kishor was behind Narendra Modi’s phenomenal victory in the General Election 2014. And mind you that was not a one-time magic trick because he had done something like that two years ago in the Gujarat Assembly Polls.
When Modi forgot him, Kishor was welcomed warmly into the outstretched arms of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who wanted the poll strategist to help the grand alliance, including Lalu Yadav’s RJD, win against BJP in 2015 Bihar Assembly Elections.
He delivered and was duly rewarded – he was made political advisor to CM Nitish Kumar.
Congress, too, has perhaps understood that only Kishor can turn the headwinds in favour. So they reportedly made him their strategist for the upcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat besides the 2017 Punjab polls.
A report published in the Economic Times
states that Kishor will report directly to Rahul Gandhi. The report says that Kishor may also suggest a larger, politically important role for Priyanka Gandhi.
All members of the Congress party in UP have been told to report to Kishor. But the man himself is tight-lipped.
The main opposition for Congress in Gujarat remains the BJP, in Punjab it is the Akali Dal and there are multiple parties to counter in Uttar Pradesh – Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party, and BJP. The game of thrones just got very interesting.
