Pema Khandu Sworn-In As Arunachal Pradesh CM; Becomes Youngest CM In The Country

Pema Khandu, the son of late Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu, was sworn in as the ninth Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh.

He has replaced Nabam Tuki, who was restored as Chief Minister earlier this week after the Supreme court verdict. Chowna Mein was sworn in as the Deputy Chief Minister.


The 37-year-old became the youngest Chief Minister in the country.

In the fast -paced political developments in the state, Khandu was elected by Congress Legislature Party (CLP) and staked claim to power on the basis of the support of 45 party MLAs along with two independents.


In the 60-member House with an effective strength of 58, Congress now claims the support of 47 MLAs, including two independents.
